Well the truth of the matter is that I am extremely overweight. I know it, and quite frankly everyone around me knows it. I am too heavy and it needs to change. I hate knowing that I am the kid that sits in the back of the room because he is afraid that his back is going to block out someone behind him because they won't be able to see around him. I am tired of all of it.
I had an epiphany of sorts tonight, my unhealthy habits, my lack of concern for my health and my own life can and is affecting my marriage and my wife. It is sad to say that my health causes my wife to cry. But it does. She is terrified of the idea that I die early because of my weight. I just never thought about it. Truth is, it is highly likely that unless I change I will have a heart attack in my forties. So here we go
I currently weight 230 pounds. I need to be down to 180 by the end of this summer. That is a fifty pound loss. I hope to be able to do it and will write about my journey to do it.

Today I started Insanity again. It's the first time that I have really worked out in about three months. I started Insanity almost a year ago. When I started it I weighed 250 pounds. I started exercising to get into shape for law school. I know that appearance is a big factor in the world, however it is particularly important in the field of law. Your appearance can empower you in your own eyes, eyes of colleagues and even in the eyes of a jury. It is unfortunate that appearance plays such an important part but it is what it is.
Although I lost thirty pounds after doing Insanity the first time through, I wasn't able to keep up the weight loss. After the first go through I hadn't really changed my eating habits. Had I done so, I probably would have loss more than just thirty pounds. That failure has led me to gain weight back and I am now at 230 pounds. After a couple of weeks of really feeling discouraged, and after hearing my wife cry and worry about me and my future, I have decided that I will lose the weight that I need to lose to be healthy and to give me the self confidence that I want to have going into law school.
Today's workout was Plyometrics. I have to say I am in a lot worse shape than I thought. I am excited that I made it through it. It wasn't pretty but I did it. I hope to be able to see a difference in the next couple of weeks.
